TATE MANAGEMENT

Owner Representation, Construction Management, Heavy & Civil Design

Occupying almost an entire city block, the Grand America Hotel is a 24-story, 775-key, 1.2-million-SF hotel whose design was inspired by the elegance and classic taste of the finest traditional European hotels. The property offers two full-service restaurants, an entertainment lounge, a full-service spa, and 134,000-SF of conference and meeting facilities. All work on this project was completed within budget and on time for the 2002 Winter Olympics. This project is listed among Conde Nast Travelers Top 100 Hotels of the World for 2003.

This project is clad with 250,000-SF of Bethel white granite that was quarried in New England, shipped to Europe for fabrication, returned to port in the US, and delivered by truck to the jobsite. Given these logistics and potential risk to schedule, we implemented unprecedented quality control to ensure the concrete super-structure was built to the tolerance required for the application of the granite.
